Interested in volunteering for Earth Run?
We will be hosting over 1000 participants this year, and we need your help to make it all run as smoothly as possible. This is a great opportunity if you would like to support Earth Run but are not interested in running. All Race Day volunteers will receive an Earth Crew T-shirt and recognition on the Earth Run website.
Available Volunteer Positions:
Logistics Coordinator
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week until June 3, intensifying in May as race day approaches. Must be able to attend at least one Earth Run Planning Committee meeting per month. Meetings are held twice per month on Wednesday afternoons. Must also be available on June 3.
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for:
-Assisting with race day organizers in acquiring everything that is needed for the event: tents, tables, timing equipment etc.
-Contacting vendors and organizing delivery & pick-up of loaned equipment
-Acquiring materials needed for promotional events leading up to the race
-Communicating projected expenses to Chair and adhering to the race budget
-Supervising set-up and take-down on Race Day
Qualities & Skills
-Event planning experience is an asset
-Excellent communications skills (verbal & written)
-Must be very organized
-Teamwork oriented
-Familiarity with Vancouver vendors/suppliers would also be an asset

Virtual Run Coordinator
Time Commitment: 4-5 hours per week until June 4, intensifying in May as both the June 3 Vancouver race day and June 1-4 virtual run approach. Must be able to attend at least one Earth Run Planning Committee meeting per month and should be willing to assist with Vancouver event planning. Committee meetings are held twice monthly on Wednesday afternoons. Must be available for Vancouver race on June 3.
We need someone who will be able to engage and encourage our virtual runners. You will be their point-of-contact for the race, and must be able to assist them with the technology as well as ensure that this is a FUN experience for everyone involved.
The Virtual Run Coordinator will be responsible for:
-Assisting with the maintainence the Virtual Run web portal
-Assisting local (Roundup) race organizers with Virtual Run registration
-Communicating with Virtual Run participants: answering questions, moderating comments etc.
-Coordinating with promotions team and integrating the Virtual Run into the Earth Run social media platform
Qualities & Skills
-Above average social media and web skills
-Promotions experience would be helpful
-Must be able to communicate effectively online
-Teamwork oriented

Social Media Committee
Time Commitment: flexible

Events Outreach Committee
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per event, dates TBA
Location: Vancouver, BC
We will be setting up info booths at events throughout Vancouver in the months leading up to Earth Run. We need enthusiastic spokespeople who are comfortable answering questions to be ambassadors for the Earth Run event.

Executive Director Assistant and Promotions Intern, Earth Run School Day Program
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week for a period of 3 months
Location: Victoria, BC
The Earth Run Foundation is looking for a energetic communicator to work closely with the Executive Director. This position will have you working directly with the Executive Director, providing support for multiple communications and promotions tasks for the Earth Run Foundation programs.
This will include:
- Promoting the city and school Earth Run programs to principles, teachers and the community
- Working with project plans and helping to manage the work
- Providing internet research and social media communications
- Building relationships with sponsors and partners
- Developing promotional materials
- Coordinating interviews for stories and writing stories for the media
- Organizing meetings and completing documentation (Committees and ER Directors)
Qualifications:
- Passionate about the environment
- Background in journalism, promotions, or marketing
- Good written and oral communication
- Well-organized, independent worker with a “can do” attitude
Ideally, you:
• Own a laptop and have internet access
• Event and administrative experience
• Love networking
• Able to multi-task
• Have some experience as an Executive Administrator or in event promotions and marketing
• Might be in school, might not, but want experience
• Are flexible, positive, patient and willing to learn

Promotions Team, Earth Run School Day Program
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week until June
Location: Victoria, BC
The Earth Run Foundation is looking for energetic communicators who can spend a few hours each week getting in touch with schools either by phone/skype or email to tell them about our Earth Run School Day program and to invite them to participate in 2012′s Li’l Tree Hugger program.
There will be a 1 hour training session, and then you can do the work from home as your schedule allows. We have all the necessary promotional campaign materials – we just need you!
Qualifications:
- Passionate about the environment
- Background in event promotion, marketing, or teaching
- Good written and oral communication in English (French is an asset)
- Well-organized, independent worker with good ideas and a “can do” attitude
- Can use a computer for skype, word, excel
Ideally, you:
• Own a laptop and have Internet access
• Have some experience with school programs or road running events
• Might be in school, might not, but want experience
• Are flexible, positive, patient and willing to learn
